The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing India’s Green Ports Mission, emphasising the adoption of clean fuels for a sustainable future, in recognition of World Hydrogen Day. In a message posted on X, the Ministry highlighted its active efforts to promote hydrogen-based technologies to power vessels, ports and logistics, thus contributing to a more eco-friendly maritime industry. World Hydrogen Day and Fuel Cell Day are global initiatives designed to raise awareness about hydrogen as a clean, sustainable energy source, as well as the versatile potential of fuel cells. The day serves as a platform to highlight hydrogen’s role in tackling climate change, enhancing energy security and promoting environmental sustainability. The Union Cabinet had approved the National Green Hydrogen Mission on January 4, 2023, with an allocation of Rs 19,744 crore, as per a report.
