JNPA recognised for environmental protection and sustainable development

 

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has announced that it has been honoured with the Envirocare Green Awards 2025 under the Municipal/Government Organisation category, recognising its valuable contribution to environmental protection and sustainable development.

This award is testament to JNPA’s continuous efforts toward creating a green and future-ready port ecosystem. Over the years, JNPA has initiated several forward-looking sustainability projects — including the implementation of shore power supply to reduce vessel emissions at berth, the development of a modern solid waste management plant, and the deployment of zero-emission electric trucks for cleaner cargo movement. The port has also taken steps to rejuvenate and restore local lakes and water bodies, enhancing biodiversity in the region, and further strengthen our journey toward a low-carbon and energy-efficient operational model.
These initiatives reflect JNPA’s deep commitment to integrating sustainability into every aspect of port operations, setting benchmarks for ports across the nation, emphasised a communique.
