The Central government has approved four major railway projects worth Rs 24,634 crore, which include the construction of third and fourth lines along key routes to enhance capacity and connectivity across central India. These comprise the 314-km Wardha-Bhusawal section in Maharashtra, the 84-km Gondia-Dongargarh stretch spanning Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, the 259-km Vadodara-Ratlam corridor covering Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, and the 237-km Itarsi-Bhopal-Bina section in Madhya Pradesh. The four projects covering 18 Districts across the states of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh will increase the existing network of Indian Railways by about 894 km. They are planned as part of the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan with focus on enhancing multimodal connectivity and logistics efficiency through integrated planning and stakeholder consultations. The projects will provide seamless connectivity for the movement of people, goods and services, highlighted a report.
