Yemeni Prime Minister Shaya Zindani issued a strong condemnation of continued Houthi militia attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea, calling on the international community to adopt a firmer posture to protect critical maritime corridors. He asserted that the Houthi strikes are directly executing an Iranian agenda designed to disrupt global supply chains, endanger freedom of navigation and destabilise regional security. Earlier, a commercial tanker reported an explosion caused by a projectile impact in the southern Red Sea near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, though the vessel and crew were reported safe. Houthi forces claimed to have targeted three Saudi oil tankers over 48 hours and shot down a Saudi Bayraktar AKINCI drone over Al-Jawf province. Yemeni Defence Minister Lt. Gen. Taher al-Aqili reiterated that regional peace cannot be achieved without severing Tehran’s support for the Houthis and restoring full state authority across Yemen’s maritime and land territory, as per a report.
