VOC Port completes berth dredging to accommodate fully loaded Panamax vessels

V. O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOC Port) has intimated in a communique that dredging of its North Cargo Berth-III, to accommodate fully loaded Panamax vessels with draft of 14.20 m, and dredging and widening the turning circle from 488 m to 550 m facilitating seamless berthing of Panamax container vessels, has been completed. This has elevated the port’s service level and is attracting mainline carriers. Besides, turning waste to wealth, the port has reclaimed 11.5 hectares of land inside its Custom bound area using the dredged material, which will be effectively utilised for cargo storage.
