US military rejects Iran’s claims, assures Hormuz remains open

The United States military has firmly rejected claims made by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) that the strategic Strait of Hormuz has been closed, insisting that commercial shipping lanes remain functional. In a series of public statements issued by the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), Washington asserted that the vital maritime chokepoint continues to operate as an international waterway, declaring that “Iran does not control the Strait. Traffic is flowing.” The military standoff escalates a volatile situation in West Asia, unfolding just as a fragile interim ceasefire agreement fell apart. Despite escalating defence risks and intensifying geopolitical posturing, CENTCOM reiterated that American naval and air forces remain heavily positioned throughout the region, prepared to deploy all necessary measures to safeguard freedom of navigation and protect global energy supply networks from unilateral blockades, said a report.
