US military claims successful clearance of Iranian mines from Strait of Hormuz shipping lanes

The US military said it has successfully cleared all Iranian sea mines from internationally recognised shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz. This was announced by US Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander Admiral Brad Cooper in an operational update. The complex, months-long de-mining operation—executed using a combination of Navy divers, Navy SEALs and multi-service air power—restores navigation safety across the vital waterway, marking a critical operational milestone, as per a report. Adm. Cooper said US forces have provided coordinated protection to nearly 1,500 commercial vessels carrying approximately 750 million barrels of crude oil through the Strait. Simultaneously, about 50,000 US personnel continue to enforce a strict naval blockade against Iran, turning back 75 non-compliant vessels and halting all Iranian oil exports since mid-July, the report added.
