GMR Visakhapatnam International Airport successfully conducted the validation flight at the upcoming Bhogapuram Airport in Andhra Pradesh this week, marking a significant milestone in the project’s journey towards operational readiness. The validation flight was operated by an Air India aircraft in the presence of the Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Mr Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, senior officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Airports Authority of India (AAI), Government of Andhra Pradesh, and the leadership of GMR Group. This successful exercise validated key airside infrastructure and navigational systems, representing a crucial step towards securing the aerodrome licence and commencing commercial operations.
Once operational, Bhogapuram Airport is expected to significantly enhance air connectivity for Andhra Pradesh, offering a modern gateway for passengers and businesses across the region. The airport will act as a powerful catalyst for economic growth, boosting tourism, creating employment opportunities and strengthening trade and logistics, thereby contributing to the overall development of the state.
