Union Government approves Mumbai Harbour marina

The Union Government has approved the development of a INR 887 crore world class marina at Mumbai Harbour, marking a major step towards strengthening coastal shipping, maritime tourism and waterfront-led urban development. The ‘Viksit Bharat Mumbai Marina’, to be developed over nearly 12 hectares of water area, will have the capacity to berth 424 yachts of up to 30 metres, supported by modern marine infrastructure.

To be implemented through a hybrid PPP model, the project will see an investment of INR 470 crore by Mumbai Port Authority and INR 417 crore from the private sector for onshore facilities. Expected to generate 2,000+ jobs, the marina will help position Mumbai on the global maritime tourism map while advancing India’s Blue Economy vision, said a communique.
