Two Indian-flagged VLGCs with LPG transit Strait of Hormuz

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has confirmed that two more Indian-flagged VLGCs — Jag Vasant and Pine Gas — carrying a combined 92,612.59 metric tonnes of LPG have transited the Strait of Hormuz via the Larak-Qeshm Channel, sailing close to the Iranian coastline for identity verification. The vessels, carrying 33 and 27 Indian seafarers respectively, are due to reach Indian ports between March 26 and 28. Mr Rakesh Kumar Sinha, Special Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, confirmed the transit. Of 28 Indian-flagged vessels originally in the region, 22 remain stranded on the western side with 611 seafarers aboard, comprising one LNG tanker, four crude tankers, three container ships, two bulk carriers and one chemical carrier, according to a report.
