SEA to ink MoU with Colombian Oil Palm Growers Federation to diversify sourcing channels

Oct 9, 2026

The Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA) is preparing to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Federation of Oil Palm Growers of Colombia (Fedepalma) to foster bilateral trade and technological collaboration in the palm oil sector. The strategic alliance aims to help India—the world’s largest importer of vegetable oils—diversify its palm oil sourcing channels beyond traditional Southeast Asian suppliers (Indonesia and Malaysia) while promoting sustainable, deforestation-free palm oil production practices. Under the proposed agreement, both industry bodies will explore joint research initiatives, sustainable cultivation frameworks and supply chain integration, supporting India’s broader strategy to stabilise domestic edible oil availability and buffer against regional supply disruptions, as per reports.
