Sagarmala powering Andhra Pradesh’s maritime growth
Dec 18, 2025
Andhra Pradesh is fast emerging as a key pillar of India’s Blue Economy, driven by port-led development under the Sagarmala Programme and the visionary leadership of the Chief Minister Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, highlighted an official communique.
As announced in Parliament, 110 Sagarmala projects worth `1+ lakh crore have been identified for Andhra Pradesh — spanning ports, logistics, coastal shipping, industrial hubs and coastal community development.
Why this matters:
* 974+ km coastline strategically leveraged
* Major & greenfield ports: Vizag, Gangavaram, Krishnapatnam, Kakinada, Ramayapatnam, Machilipatnam, Bhavanapadu, Mulapeta
* Strong integration with Vizag-Chennai Industrial Corridor
* Lower logistics costs, higher exports, job creation
With central support and execution-driven governance, Andhra Pradesh is positioning itself as a national maritime and logistics powerhouse, aligned with Maritime India Vision 2030 and Amrit Kaal 2047.
Port-led growth. Coastal prosperity. Global competitiveness. This is the Andhra Pradesh growth model, the communique emphasised.
