Oman hopeful temporary Hormuz shipping lane will be announced soon

Omani Foreign Minister Mr Badr Albusaidi has said that Oman and Iran expect to soon finalise a temporary shipping corridor and practical arrangements to restore safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. Following high-level talks in Tehran with Iranian Foreign Minister Mr Abbas Araghchi, the two nations unveiled a phased framework aimed at resolving months of maritime disruption across the strategic waterway. The proposal encompasses an interim transit route, joint naval de-mining operations and ongoing technical negotiations to define the long-term administration, traffic management and security services for the Strait. Both ministers stressed the importance of future consultations with neighbouring Persian Gulf littoral states under international maritime frameworks. While the proposed corridor offers an interim diplomatic breakthrough to ease global energy transit risks, full operational guidelines and coordination details remain under negotiation between Muscat and Tehran, according to a report.
