Sep 10, 2026

Four new freight train services connecting Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) along the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) were flagged off on Tuesday at the hands of the Prime Minister of India, Mr Narendra Modi, in the presence of Mr Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of Railways, alongside the Governor of Maharashtra, Mr Jishnu Dev Varma; Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr Devendra Fadnavis; and the Deputy Chief Ministers Mr Eknath Shinde and Mrs Sunetra Pawar.

The new freight services will connect:

* JNPA, Mumbai → Sanand

* JNPA, Mumbai → Makarpura

* JNPA, Mumbai → Umbergaon

A fourth service connecting JNPA has also been finalised.

These services will further strengthen rail connectivity from JNPA to key industrial and logistics hubs, enabling faster, more efficient and sustainable movement of cargo across the country.

With the Western DFC connecting the port to the hinterland, JNPA continues to play a pivotal role in building a seamless, multimodal and future-ready logistics network for New India, emphasised a communique.
