Marine exports soar by 16 pc in April-Nov. despite Trump tariff

Dec 17, 2025

Despite being hit by the US tariff, India’s marine products exports increased by over 16% to $5.75 billion in April-November 2025-26 on year because of a surge in shipments across several new markets, according to official data released. In November 2025, India exported marine products valued at $0.87 billion, an increase of 15% compared to a year ago.  Earlier, exports had declined to $1.06 billion, over 7%, during April-October of FY26, to the United States, the country’s biggest export destination, because of high tariffs. But this loss was more than compensated by a rise in shipments to China, Vietnam, Belgium, Japan, Russia, Canada and the United Kingdom. Non-US markets have emerged as a new engine of growth. India’s seafood exports, mostly frozen shrimp, were valued at $7.45 billion in FY25, as per a report.
