Oct 26, 2026
Maharashtra Chief Minister Mr Devendra Fadnavis has announced plans to develop a mega chemical industry park spanning up to 5,000 acres adjacent to the upcoming Vadhvan Port, aiming to capitalise on port-led logistics and expand regional industrial output. Speaking at the inauguration of India Chem 2026, Mr Fadnavis stated that the state is preparing an independent policy to attract large-scale investments into the sector, backed by streamlined single-window clearances via the Maitri platform. Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers Mr J. P. Nadda highlighted that the Centre’s Grand Chemical Park scheme will support the project with targeted financial backing and facilitated environmental approvals.
Designed to scale up domestic manufacturing capabilities, generate hundreds of thousands of jobs and align with national goals of growing India’s chemical sector toward a $1 trillion economy, the proposed hub is positioned to leverage Vadhvan Port’s maritime connectivity for global export competitiveness, as per a report.
