Kattupalli Port sets national benchmark in soda ash handling
Sep 9, 2025
Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) has set a new national record at its Kattupalli Port by handling a 35,000 metric tonnes (MT) soda ash parcel — the largest single consignment of its kind ever received at any Indian port.
The landmark operation cements Kattupalli Port’s rising stature as South India’s bulk cargo hub. The smooth discharge and despatch were enabled by seamless collaboration between the port operations team, shipping lines and logistics partners. This achievement demonstrates Kattupalli’s capability to manage high-volume cargo with unmatched efficiency, speed and reliability.
Strategically located near Chennai, the port is equipped with advanced warehousing, bagging facilities, mechanised conveyor systems and robust multimodal connectivity, making it a vital logistics hub for industries across Tamil Nadu and neighbouring states.
By handling this record-breaking parcel, Kattupalli Port has reinforced its role in driving regional industrial growth while advancing APSEZ’s mission of enabling global trade flows. The milestone also underscores Adani Ports’ broader commitment to strengthening India’s maritime infrastructure and positioning the nation as a competitive player in global supply chains.
Kattupalli’s success signals not just operational excellence but also the future-ready direction of Indian ports, emphasised a communique.
