Indian shippers could face disruption after US-China tariff truce
May 21, 2025
After the US administration announced a 90-day pause in the tariff war with China, Indian shippers are reportedly facing the risk of being caught in disruption in global supply chains because Chinese goods are seeing an evacuation rush, which is likely to boost container shipping volumes and also result in significant bottlenecks at American and Chinese ports. However, Indian exporters can avail this opportunity to enhance exports through the utilisation of lower tariffs and by expediting shipments to the US. But there is also possibility of supply chain interruption due to increased freight costs and capacity constraints, said a report.
