India working with US to reach an understanding on issues that led to tariffs: Minister
Oct 7, 2025
India has unresolved issues with the US, which has led to tariffs being imposed on its goods, but it is trying to reach an understanding with the country, said External Affairs Minister, Dr S. Jaishankar, while speaking at the Kautilya Economic Conclave (KEC 2025) last week. New Delhi, however, will insist on its red lines being respected, he said, alluding to sensitive areas such as agriculture and dairy. Referring to the additional 25% penalty imposed on India for buying Russian oil, on top of 25% reciprocal tariffs, the Minister deemed it as unfair, but added that the issue should not be disproportionately viewed, as per a report.
