India’s gherkin exports reached an all-time high of USD 307.61 million during 2025-26, registering a robust 8% increase in outbound trade volume. This record-breaking momentum was successfully sustained despite facing stiff headwinds from restrictive US import tariffs. The growth highlights the strong global demand and competitive pricing of Indian-processed pickled cucumbers in the international agricultural market. The cultivation of gherkins in India is primarily driven by structured contract farming frameworks spanning agricultural belts in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. This decentralised processing model ensures consistent quality standards required by strict foreign food safety regulations. By maintaining seamless supply chains and high yield efficiencies, domestic agri exporters have successfully navigated Western tariff barriers, solid manufacturing overruns and logistical challenges to further solidify India’s position as a dominant global supplier of processed gherkins, said a report.
