Jun 12, 2026

India’s outbound trade has hit a historic milestone, with total exports scaling an all-time high of $863 billion in the fiscal year 2025–26, nearly doubling from $468 billion in FY15. Speaking in Chandigarh, Mr  Nitin Kumar Yadav, Additional Secretary at the Union Ministry of Commerce, noted that India’s trade grew at a 5.7% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the decade, heavily anchored by a transformative surge in services alongside resilient non-petroleum commodities. Services exports led the multi-year expansion, surging from $158 billion to $421 billion at a remarkable CAGR of 9.3%. Concurrently, physical merchandise shipments expanded steadily from $310 billion to $442 billion, while non-petroleum exports touched a fresh record of $387.9 billion, highlighting a deeply diversified domestic production base. The ministry credited this momentum to India’s aggressive deployment of strategic, new-age bilateral pacts, according to a report.
