India’s Chinese imports surge across key sectors including engineering, textiles and toys

India’s imports from China experienced a sharp surge across major merchandise categories, led by engineering goods, textile intermediate inputs and toys, according to trade analysis data. The influx highlights domestic manufacturers’ continued reliance on Chinese capital goods, machinery parts and raw materials to sustain production schedules, alongside ongoing consumer demand for low-cost imports. The growth in Chinese imports spans both intermediate industrial inputs—such as electrical machinery, electronic components and synthetic yarn—and consumer merchandise like toys and household items, said a report.
