Aug 18, 2026

India’s chemical industry is targeting outbound shipments of up to $81 billion by 2030, supported by expanded domestic capacity, reduced reliance on imports and strategic integration into global supply chains, according to a report released by NITI Aayog. The policy think tank projects that India’s domestic chemical market could reach $310 billion by 2030, with total domestic production nearly doubling to $280 billion over the same timeframe. The report outlines a strategic roadmap focused on scaling speciality chemicals, agrochemicals and petrochemical derivatives while transitioning India toward becoming a net-zero importer in key chemical segments. NITI Aayog highlighted that achieving these growth targets could generate up to one million new direct and indirect jobs, positioning India as a resilient manufacturing hub and a global chemical exporting powerhouse, as per a report.
