India reclaims global leadership in freight forwarding as FFFAI’s Tej Contractor elected Vice President of FIATA after 25 years
Oct 27, 2025
In a ground breaking development, the Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations in India (FFFAI) has proudly announced the election of Mr Tej Mayur Contractor as Vice President of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) during the FIATA World Congress held in Hanoi earlier this month.
This monumental victory marks the return of the Vice Presidency to India after a staggering quarter of a century, a testament to the nation’s growing influence and leadership in the logistics sector.
As the logistics industry faces unprecedented challenges and opportunities, the election of Mr Contractor signifies not only a
pivotal moment for FFFAI but also for India’s standing on the global stage, emphasised a communique.
Mr Thomas Sim from Singapore is set to assume the role of FIATA President, and the leadership team is poised to drive transformative changes that will shape the future of international trade and logistics.
The competition for the Senior Vice President position was fierce, featuring notable candidates from around the globe, including Nadia from NAFL Dubai, David Nakatur from Ghana, Yukki Hanafi from Indonesia, and Jens Roamer. However, it was the Asia-Pacific region where the stakes were particularly high, with Mr Tej Contractor representing FFFAI alongside fellow contenders Mr C. K. Govil from ACAAI India, Paul Khoa from VLA Vietnam, and Adelaide Yang from IOLFFAA Taiwan.
Collective victory for Indian logistics
Mr Contractor’s election is not just a personal achievement; it is a collective victory for the entire Indian logistics community. The last time India held the Vice Presidency was in 2001, when Late Mr Mayur C. Contractor was elected in Cancun, Mexico. This long-awaited return underscores the relentless efforts and dedication of FFFAI in advocating the interests of freight forwarders and enhancing the global logistics framework.
In his acceptance, Mr Contractor expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from FIATA and its member associations worldwide. “I am honoured to represent India on this esteemed platform in carrying the legacy set forth by the past FFFAI representatives, and walk in the footsteps of my late father Mr Mayur C. Contractor.
He highlighted the leadership of the Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi and the policies set forth to enable rapid growth in India.
He expressed his commitment to fostering collaboration and innovation in the logistics sector, and stressed that the fraternity can together navigate the complexities of global trade and ensure a sustainable future for the industry.
The election results reflect a growing recognition of FFFAI’s contributions to the logistics sector, both locally and globally. FFFAI continues to champion the interests of freight forwarders in India, and this victory serves as a powerful reminder of the potential for Indian leadership in shaping the future of international logistics.
As the logistics community looks ahead, FFFAI remains steadfast in its mission to enhance the capabilities of freight forwarders and promote best practices across the industry. With Mr Tej Contractor at the helm of FIATA’s Vice Presidency, the future of global logistics is brighter than ever, the communique highlighted.
