India Offers Zero-for-Zero Tariffs on Auto Parts, Steel from US

Indian government has proposed zero tariffs on steel, auto components and pharmaceuticals on a reciprocal basis up to a certain quantity of imports in it’s  trade negotiations with the USA, people familiar with the matter said.
Beyond this threshold, imported industrial goods would attract the regular level of duties, the people said, asking not to be identified as the discussions are private. The offer was made by Indian trade officials visiting Washington late last month to expedite negotiations on a bilateral trade deal expected by fall of this year, said the people.
