India extends anti-dumping duties on 4 products, imposes new tariff on one

The Union Finance Ministry has extended anti-dumping duties on four industrial products while imposing a fresh tariff on one item during July, following detailed investigations by the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR). The anti-dumping measures cover key chemical, steel and industrial raw material inputs originating from countries including China, Taiwan, Vietnam and Thailand. Designed to counter unfair trade practices and prevent market distortions caused by underpriced imports, these tariffs aim to level the playing field for domestic manufacturing enterprises. The extension and fresh imposition of these trade remedy duties reflect the government's continued policy focus on safeguarding local value chains, preventing predatory pricing in critical input segments, and boosting domestic industrial capacity under the Atmanirbhar Bharat framework, as per a report.
