Apple Inc., through its Indian vendors, exported a record $50 billion worth of iPhones until December 2025 after the world’s second-biggest company by market value entered the smartphone production-linked incentive (PLI) programme in FY22. The export tally is expected to rise further, with three months remaining in the five-year PLI scheme tenure for the company. In the first nine months of FY26 alone, Apple has already exported nearly $16 billion of value, taking the cumulative iPhone exports past $50 billion within the PLI period. Samsung, the other company exporting mobile phones and among the biggest global rivals to Apple, shipped out nearly $17 billion worth of devices over the five years applicable - from FY21 to FY25. On the back of iPhone exports, which contribute 75% of the overall smartphone shipments, the category has become India’s top export line item in FY25, from 167 in 2015, as per a report.
