Jul 31, 2025

India’s growth is projected to be 6.4% in 2025 and 2026, with both numbers revised slightly upward, reflecting a more benign external environment than assumed in the April reference forecast, said the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in its July World Economic Outlook Update. It raised India’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth forecast by 0.2 percentage point to 6.4%, citing an improved external environment. The multilateral agency also revised upward India’s GDP growth estimate by 0.1 percentage point to 6.4% in FY27. On a calendar year basis, India’s growth projections are 6.7% for 2025 and 6.4% for 2026, the agency said. In its latest forecast, global growth is projected at 3% for 2025 and 3.1% in 2026. The forecast for 2025 is 0.2 percentage points higher than that in the reference forecast of April and 0.1 percentage points higher for 2026, as per a report.
