India, which has pledged to secure 1,000 commercial vessels over the next decade as part of a national push to grow its shipbuilding and maritime sectors, has joined forces with South Korea’s HD Hyundai. Earlier this month, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE), the intermediate holding company overseeing HD Hyundai’s shipbuilding operations, announced it had signed a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), India’s largest state-owned shipbuilder, to pursue long-term cooperation across the shipbuilding value chain.
