Govt extends Customs duty relief for electronics, lithium-ion battery sourcing till 2029
Jul 13, 2026
In a major boost to the domestic manufacturing ecosystem, the government has extended Customs duty exemptions and concessional tariff relief on machinery and inputs used for electronics and lithium-ion battery production until March 2029. The policy extension is aimed at cementing India’s position as a global electronics hub and accelerating the localised production of electric vehicles (EVs). The dynamic extension ensures that critical raw materials, parts and specialised capital equipment required to assemble lithium-ion cells can continue to enter the country at near-zero or heavily reduced Customs brackets.
