The Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) has created a three-year Public Private Partnership (PPP) project pipeline to streamline infrastructure development across the country. This initiative follows the announcement made in the Union Budget 2025-26. It seeks to boost national infrastructure through an organised framework for private sector participation. According to the Ministry of Finance, the PPP project pipeline comprises 852 projects across Central Infrastructure Ministries and States and Union Territories with a combined total project cost of over 17 lakh crore rupees. According to the government, 232 projects with a total project cost (TPC) of over 13 lakh crore belong to Central Ministries & Departments. Out of these, the Road Ministry has the maximum number of projects (108) with a TPC of over Rs 8.76 lakh crore, power comes second with 46 projects and a TPC of over Rs 3.40 lakh crore, followed by Ports, Shipping & Waterways with 22 projects and over Rs 37,000 crore of TPC, as per a report.
