Jul 29, 2025
Emirates Shipping Line (ESL) has announced its entry into the US market with the launch of the Sun Chief Express (SCX) service.
The SCX will directly connect Seattle, WA with Ho Chi Minh, and Shekou, while also providing wider coverage of Southeast Asia via these ports. ESL will leverage its intermodal solutions within the US market, to provide inland connectivity via Seattle to locations across the US including, but not limited to, Portland, OR, St. Paul, MN, Chicago, IL, Kansas City, MO, Columbus, OH and Memphis, TN.
This marks an especially significant milestone for ESL, which is making its entry into the US market, coming on the back of its recent expansion to Mexico. The launch of SCX further enhances ESL’s strategic position in Southeast Asia, with direct links to the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, China, and now the US.
As per a release, the new service will be fortnightly, with the following rotation: Ho Chi Minh – Shekou – Seattle – Ho Chi MinhFacilitating regional trade growth is a key driver behind ESL’s network coverage enhancements. With South China and Southeast Asia booming as manufacturing hubs, SCX will connect customers to opportunities in new markets, the release added.
