DPA’s CSR initiative supports setting up of Green Technology Lab at Tolani Polytechnic in Adipur

A state-of-the-art Green Technology Lab was formally inaugurated at Tolani Polytechnic, Adipur, under the Deendayal Kaushal Vikas Program, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Deendayal Port Authority (DPA). The initiative aims to equip students with future-ready skills in green and sustainable technologies aligned with India’s transition towards clean energy, while also creating trained manpower for marine and allied industries.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by the Chairman, Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Mr Sushil Kumar Singh, as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished dignitaries present on the occasion included Mr Nilabhra Dasgupta, Deputy Chairman, Mr J. K. Rathod, Chief Vigilance Officer, Mr V. Raveendra Reddy, Chief Engineer, Dr A. H. Kalro, Trustee, Gandhidham Collegiate Board, Mr Rajendra Aswani, Administrator, Gandhidham Collegiate Board, and Prof. K. Venkateswarlu, Head – CSR and Projects. 

The Green Technology Lab has been developed with generous funding support from Deendayal Port Authority under its CSR initiatives, specifically to conduct Deendayal Kaushal Vikas Programs in emerging green technologies. Designed to go beyond the conventional academic curriculum, the lab provides hands-on training and industry-oriented exposure to students and working professionals. Prof. K. Venkateswarlu delivered the welcome address and briefed the audience about the project and the newly established laboratory.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr A. H. Kalro expressed gratitude to Deendayal Port Authority for its continued CSR support, stating that such initiatives are enabling students to gain practical exposure to cutting-edge technologies.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Nilabhra Dasgupta highlighted the tremendous growth and employment opportunities emerging in the renewable energy and green technology sectors. He encouraged students to actively participate in the Deendayal Kaushal Vikas Programs, which are designed to pave the way for successful and sustainable careers.

In his keynote address, DPA Chairman Mr Sushil Kumar Singh elaborated on the National Green Hydrogen Mission envisioned by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi and outlined the role assigned to Deendayal Port Authority in reducing carbon footprint, particularly in the shipping and marine sectors. He informed that green hydrogen projects are already operational at DPA, with further scaling planned in the coming years. He also urged students to take full advantage of the Kaushal Vikas programs to gain knowledge beyond the classroom and become industry-ready professionals. 

The digital inauguration of the Green Hydrogen Lab was carried out by the Chairman along with other dignitaries, marking a significant milestone in green technical education.

The Integrated Green Technology Lab is equipped with advanced facilities including green hydrogen systems, solar and wind energy setups, electric vehicle technologies, lithium battery systems, EV chargers, BLDC motors, MPPT controllers, inverters, wind turbine generators, hydrogen safety and detection systems, and comprehensive fire and safety equipment. All laboratory systems are powered entirely by renewable energy sources, reinforcing the lab’s commitment to sustainability. 

Notably, this facility is among the first-of-its-kind Green Technology Labs in a polytechnic institute in Gujarat, positioning Tolani Polytechnic, Adipur, as a pioneer in green skill development.

Prof. Manish Chawda and Prof. Kashyap Gandhi were actively involved in the establishment of the laboratory. Prof. Chawda showcased the facilities to the dignitaries during the inauguration. The programme was conducted by Prof. Utpal Mahitcha, Lecturer in Electrical Engineering, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. H. G. Sagar, Principal, Tolani Polytechnic, Adipur.
