Bengal invites fresh Request for Proposal for development of Tajpur deep sea port

Dec 3, 2025

The West Bengal government this week issued a fresh Request for Proposal (RFP) for the development of the mega Tajpur deep-sea port in East Medinipur district of the state, after effectively scrapping the first tender process in which Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) had emerged as the winning bidder. Issuing a fresh RFP for the project, the West Bengal State Maritime Board, under the state government, invited bids from experienced and qualified bidders for the development of the proposed port on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis with flexibility of design plan and tariff. With a concession period of 99 years, the state will support the developer for the rail and road linkage to the proposed port. Total availability of land is 1,000 acres, as per a report.
