APSEZ’s new ICD Malur offers proximity to key ports and industrial clusters

Positioned as a future-ready logistics hub in South India

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has achieved a significant milestone in its logistics expansion with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art Inland Container Depot (ICD) at Malur, near Bengaluru. This strategic development reinforces APSEZ’s commitment to providing seamless, end-to-end trade connectivity across South India. 

The launch event was hosted by Mr Ashwani Gupta, Whole-time Director and CEO of APSEZ, along with Mr Divij Anil Taneja, CEO of Adani Logistics Limited; Mr Sanjeev Verma, Head of Pan-India Operations; Mr Kuruvilla, Head of Pan-India Sales; and other senior leaders of APSEZ. 

 

 

During the launch event, Mr Ashwani Gupta highlighted Adani Ports and Logistics’ extensive presence across India and its growing overseas operations. He shared his vision for expanding port and logistics services in transhipment modules and EXIM trade to accelerate India’s economic growth. 

Mr Divij Anil Taneja spoke about the company’s pan-India footprint and its adoption of advanced IT-driven and robotic methodologies to enhance service quality, reduce container turnaround time, improve operational efficiency and achieve cost savings. 

Mr Kuruvilla provided insights into the Bengaluru market, its industrial landscape and existing challenges, emphasising how Adani Logistics views these as opportunities to deliver superior services to shipping lines, manufacturers, importers, exporters, freight forwarders, CHAs, transporters and other stakeholders. He also acknowledged the dedicated efforts of Mr Lakshmi Narayanan, Terminal Head of ICD Malur, and his team in driving sales and marketing initiatives. 

The event drew over 250 customers and logistics partners, reflecting strong industry confidence in the strategic importance of the Malur ICD.

Salient features

 ICD Malur is strategically positioned along the Bengaluru-Chennai railway main line near Malur station, and boasts its own rail siding and direct road connectivity via NE7 and NH44, enabling efficient multimodal cargo movement. It offers robust linkages to major ports including Adani Kattupalli, Adani Ennore, Adani Vizhinjam, Chennai Port and JNPA, significantly enhancing export-import efficiency for regional industries. 

Spread across 30 acres, with an additional 21 acres earmarked for future expansion, ICD Malur features advanced infrastructure such as Terminal Operating Systems (TOS), Gate Operating Systems (GOS), real-time control towers, integrated warehousing and on-site Customs clearance—positioning it as a future-ready logistics hub. 

Its proximity to Karnataka’s industrial clusters and accessibility to Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu provides a competitive edge for manufacturers, exporters and importers. With this launch, APSEZ strengthens its pan-India logistics network, advancing its vision of port-to-factory gate connectivity across 11,000 km of coastline and 95% hinterland coverage, highlighted a release.
